CompuLert® 6.5.1 Delivers Increased Database Reliability, Expanded Alarming and Message Handling...
CompuLert® Release 6.5.1 enhances message-handling, improves database reliability, and provides expanded alarming to deliver the most robust, high-performance enterprise management solution available. The CompuLert Release 6.5.1 enhancements include:
Enhanced Message-Handling
CompuLert 6.5.1 is equipped with a variety of new commands to view and change the maximum message size and the number of messages allocated to the action log, scheduler log, and dialer log.
The new commands allow users to modify the size of the action, scheduler, and dialer logs from 128 to 100,000 messages, and to change the maximum message size from 512 to 5,000 characters. Data overloads are now prevented at the DAP level for Tel-netted CHAP lines by specifying a baud rate of zero.
Extended MA Entries and MA Pattern Matching
CompuLert 6.5.1 extends the maximum number of entries in an MA table to 512. Additionally, MA pattern matching is now provided for dial-up entities.
Expanded Alarming Capabilities
CompuLert 6.5.1 now retains active (unacknowledged or not cleared) alarms through a system restart. Active alarms are logged to disk and can be maintained across system reboots, if necessary. "FYI" alarms are now included on the active alarm list as issued by the op-alarms command. Tracked and untracked alarms no longer share alarm IDs.
In the event of an unscheduled action, message text is provided (communication mechanisms have been implemented in shared memory) and the $MSGDATA variable will not be empty. Additionally, CompuLert now supports more than 32 active alarms per entity. In fact, 65,535 simultaneous active alarms, distributed among any number of managed entities are now supported.
Increased Database Reliability
CompuLert's database reliability and performance is enhanced through the use of database flat files, which are circular buffers structured as fixed-length message logs. Message data and alarms are logged directly to the flat message logs as they are received, and can be automatically archived to alternative files when the messages logs approach the installation-defined capacity.
As a result, CompuLert 6.5.1 delivers faster data retrieval rates and eliminates the possibility of database corruption while in operation. In addition, when using the CompuLert upgrade installation feature, previous CompuLert databases (both version 5 and 6) are automatically converted to the enhanced 6.5.1 format.
CompuLert Extends Systems Management Across the Enterprise
Tone Software Corporation announced the availability of dramatically expanded system and device management facilities in the new release 6.4 of the CompuLert Enterprise Management Solution.
CompuLert is deployed in many Fortune 500 computing centers to comprehensively monitor and manage distributed systems and hardware, including the legacy systems and environmental devices that escape most network management and framework products.
